Clinical trials – NHS Confederation

The new EU Clinical Trials Regulation

A new EU Clinical Trials Regulation entered into force on 16 June 2014, introducing a raft of changes to the existing, controversial, EU Directive. The Directive (Directive 2001/20/EC), aimed to harmonise the requirements for clinical trials across the EU, whilst ensuring the safety of clinical trial participants, the ethical soundness of trials and the reliability and robustness of data generated. While achieving some of its aims, the Directive has also increased the administrative burden and costs of conducting clinical trials in the EU significantly, and caused considerable delays in launching new trials. The NHS European Office has published a briefing explaining some of the important changes the new EU Regulation will bring and how NHS research and patients will benefit. Download our briefing and our Infographic, and read our blog on the new EU Regulation.

Health Hackathon_BIN@Sheffield_Design4Health

As part of BIN@Sheffield 2014 Design 4 Health has an exciting opportunity for you

to participate in a day-long health themed hackathon.
There are two themes for the hackathon- one strand focussing on hacking assistive
technology, and another strand focussing on the development of innovative clinical uses for Thalmic Labs’ MYO Armband, creating predominantly digital solutions & writing code.
There are 3 multi disciplinary teams per strand, and we would invite you to register
your interest for the event. Limited space means that involvement is on a first-come
first-served basis as we get participants with the right skills for the task.
To register, we would like you to prepare a 200 word biography, giving your
background (designer, engineer, coder, clinician, entrepreneur, etc.) and core skills
and experience.
Lunch and all refreshments are provided as part of the BIN@Sheffield 2014 eventplease
register for BIN@Sheffield using the QR code or URL Above.
