PhD Scholarships within the School of Human and Health Sciences, University of Huddersfield (September, 2018)
Three PhD scholarships with a bursary of £6000 per year plus fee waiver are available for outstanding researchers across the health, social and behavioural sciences. A fourth PhD scholarship with a bursary of approximately £14,800 per year plus fee waiver is offered as part of the University Alliance Social Policy Doctoral Training Alliance Scheme.
The bursaries are for three years and are open to competitive application for September 2018 entry, with a closing date of July 7th 2018. Current PhD candidates are not eligible. Successful applicants will be required to assist with undergraduate teaching and/or staff research (6 hours per week average) and will be expected to play an active role in developing the research community of the School.
Applicants are required to submit a research proposal and applications are particularly welcome from those proposing research in the following areas:
Child and family health and well-being*
Participation and active citizenship of children and young people*
Cognition and Decision Making
Tackling sexual violence in UK universities*
Addressing inequalities in health and healthcare*
Relationships between work and health*
The self-management of mental and/or physical health problems
Experiences of healthcare
Maintaining police investigator wellbeing
Exploring the secondary benefits of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design
Working with sex offenders in the community
Issues of political identity
Gender, sexuality and sexual identity
Applications for the Doctoral Training Alliance bursary should focus on asterisked topics and should include a strong social policy focus.
