Applications are now open for the prestigious NIHR Clinician Scientist award.
The NIHR Clinician Scientist award offers up to five years of funding to undertake focused training and development in order to develop specific skills that will enable a transition from basic research into clinical research or from clinical research into translational and applied research.
- The NIHR-CS is open to medical and dental graduates who are either in specialty training/specialty registrars or have consultant status or the equivalent in General Practice and General Dental Practice.
- Applicants for an NIHR-CS must either have a research doctorate (PhD or MD) in basic science, clinical or health-related research at the time of applying OR have submitted their doctoral thesis (leading to the award of PhD or MD) for examination. See further information for applicants not yet awarded a doctorate below. Professional or taught doctorates are not accepted as research doctorates.
- Applicants must be able to show evidence of publication in peer reviewed journals.
- Applicants must be able to show evidence of developing research capacity and research capability of others.
