ICA HEE/NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic Programme for non-medical healthcare professions
The Health Education England (HEE) and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Programme provides personal research training awards for healthcare professionals (excluding doctors and dentists) who wish to develop careers that combine clinical research and research leadership with continued clinical practice and clinical development. Applicants must belong to one of the eligible professions.Personal awards (Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowships, Clinical Lectureships and Senior Clinical Lectureships) are made following annual competitions.

Eligibility for the Clinical Lectureship and Senior Clinical Lectureship schemes will now be extended to include professional doctorate graduates, providing they can evidence the quality and proportionality of research education, training and experience gained over the course of their professional doctorate studies. Prospective applicants who hold a professional doctorate are required to gain support from their prospective host HEI to confirm that they meet the professional doctorate eligibility criteria.
